Project permissions

Workspace roles and project roles together decide who can view, edit, or delete a project.

Workspace vs project

Workspace role (owner, admin, manager, member, guest) controls billing, inviting people, and which modules appear.

Project role controls that one project — tasks, files, wiki, members, and delete/restore.

Typical project roles

  • Owner — full control, including deleting the project, managing members, and accessing trash.
  • Admin / Editor — create and edit tasks, files, and most settings; cannot always delete the whole project.
  • Member — work on assigned tasks within granted permissions.
  • View only — read the project without editing.

Practical rules

Only add people who need the project. Do not rely on workspace admin rights for day-to-day editing.

Custom workspace roles can map to a set of project permissions (create task, edit wiki, delete, and so on). Ask an owner if a button is missing.
